Krishna! Krishna!

Bhagvatam
The Bhagavatam is a story being told to King Parikshit by Sukadeva. King Parikshit liked listening to stories of all the Gods but when it came time to talk about Lord Krishna, Sukadeva suddenly stopped. He did so because at the thought of Lord Krishna he became so happy that all he could do was close his eyes and try to see Krishna in his mind and his heart. He forgot about everything else and King Parikshit was looking at Sukadeva's face in frustration. He saw a beautiful smile on his face and King Parikshit wanted to know what Sukadeva was thinking about. Why was he smiling? He was anxiously waiting to hear about Lord Krishna but Sukadeva was lost in his own world of thoughts. King Parikshit really only listened to everything Sukadeva spoke about till now because he wanted to hear about Krishna and had to endure the rest of the stories. He could not wait for Sukadeva to start talking and tell him about Lord Krishna. (Click the matki)

Do you know why and how King Parikshit knew about Lord Krishna?
Do you know why? Well, we must go to the end to understand this. Through this whole story there came and went many kings and a lot of things and events happened along the way. One of the events was a big war and in this war many kings and princes died. Lord Krishna too was at this war. The war was between the bad and the good princes and in the end the good princes won. However, at the end of the war none of the good princes survived except for a queen who was pregnant with a good prince and he was destined to be the next king. But, one of the bad princes found out about this baby and he did not want this good prince to be born so he tried to shoot an arrow into this queen's stomach. Krishna had to save this baby so he transformed himself into a ball of bright blue light and went into the queen's stomach. This blue light was so strong that nothing could pass it, no bullets, no missiles and no germs so the baby was saved.
When this baby prince was born, he could remember that beautiful blue light and he kept looking everywhere for it. He wanted to find this light again because it was so warm, kind, strong and full of love. He knew instinctively, that that light was Lord Krishna but he was not able to see it again. Do you know who this prince was? Yes, King Parikshit. He wanted so much to see Lord Krishna again and he knew Lord Krishna from the time he was born. This is why he was so anxious for Sukadeva to tell him about Lord Krishna. In fact, he was so impatient that he almost fell off his chair. He begged Sukadeva "please tell me, please, please tell me about Lord Krishna! Tell me every little detail."

Then Sukadeva opened his eyes and smiled. He started telling King Parikshit everything from the very beginning, not missing any little detail, about how and why Lord Krishna was born. (Click the matki)

Let's go to Mathura
Now let's go back in time about 5,000 years ago to Mathura, the capital city of a Kingdom in Bharat (now called India) where Krishna was born. Mathura was then ruled by a King named Ugrasen. King Ugrasen is a good old king who rules his kingdom wisely, looks after his  very well and sees that there is law and order in the country. .

So let's go to Mathura and see what happens there!
