TRUST GOD

Jagannath had a small provision store in a village. It was his sole means to make a living with his family.

One evening he received bad news of the illness of a relative. He had to go. Before departing, he gave a bundle to his wife saying, "Take care of it. It contains money and the list of things to buy from town. I will come back in the morning."

She took the bundle and set aside. She was of religious type who spent most of the time in worship. While she was praying a thief slipped in and walked away with that bag.

When the thief was walking on the road to the town some soldiers happened to see him. They suspiciously asked, "where do you go and what's in your bundle?"

The thief was scared at first. Then he gathered his wits and said, "There's money in it. I am going to town to buy things."

The soldiers got the bags opened. There indeed was money and a list of items for purchase. The list had the name of the town wholesale shop on top. The soldier knew the shop. He remarked, "So, you are going to the shop of Ramgopal! Come."

The thief had to go with them. At the shop, the soldier handed the list to Ramgopal. The thief had to surrender the money too. The wholesaler read the list, calculated price and counted the money. He said, "Okay, it is correct. It is from good old Jagannath. I will send the supplies to his shop."

Meanwhile, Jagannath returned home in the morning and asked his wife for his bundle. It was missing. He rebuked his wife for her carelessness. The wife said, "God does everything for good. Trust God."

Fretting and cursing he left for his shop after taking bath and breakfast. He was surprised to find the wholesaler's man waiting at his shop. He said, "you are late today. I have been waiting for you for half an hour with the goods."

There was the big heap of goods that he had listed. And it was all correct. He asked that man, "How did you bring this here?"

"By Bullock cart! Is that a wonder? Last night your man gave us the money and your list of goods. Naturally I was asked to deliver the goods as usual. Something wrong?"

Jagannath shook his head. He stocked the goods in his shop. At night he told his wife about the whole thing. She just said, "I don't know. Only thing that I know is , God does everything for the good."
