Story

  • Hiranyakashyapu was a very powerful devil-king, who thought of himself as the Lord, and hated Lord Vishnu.
  • But his son Prahlad was a very noble child, who worshipped Lord Vishnu, all the time.
  • So, the cruel devil Hiranyakashyapu wanted to kill little Prahlad. But failed every time he tried.
  • As Prahlad kept chanting the name of the Lord all the time, the Lord protected him.
  • One day, Hiranyakashyapu asked his sister Holika, who had the boon to never be burnt.
  • So the King asked Holika to sit in the centre of a bonfire with Prahlad on her lap, so that the fire could burn him.
  • The bonfire was lit, and young Prahlad sat in Holika's lap, in its centre, praying to Lord Vishnu.
  • The Lord saved Prahlad, leaving him untouched by the flames.
  • But Holika was burnt to ashes.

Yeah! GET THAT POWER-
Chant THE NAME that saved Prahlad.

Celebration:
Holi is Coming! Holi is Coming! ..on 6th March.

The festival of Holi begins on Duwadashi - on the twelfth day of the waxing moon of the month of Phalgun.
Lord Krishna, loved festivity. He ran around with his band of cowherds and maidens of the village in his childhood and youth.

The hamlets of Brindavan, Gokul and Barsana were full of fun and frolic. Lord Krishna played Holi with much gust. He played pranks on the Gopis. They colored each other with Gulal made up of numerous colours such as pink, magenta, red, yellow and green along with Abeer (small crystals or paper-like chips of mica). The one Krishna colored the most was his childhood sweetheart Radhika, who lived in Barsana.
